JAG PANZER To Re-Record Early Classics For Upcoming CD
January 28, 2002After five years of trying to secure the rights to reissue their back catalog, Colorado power metallers JAG PANZER appear to have been unable to reach an agreement with ex-guitarist Joey Tafolla to allow them to re-release the early classics through the Century Media label. As a result, the band have decided to take the best tracks from their pre-Century Media releases (the Tyrants EP, Ample Destruction and Dissident Alliance) and record them “as if they were new songs,” according to guitarist Mark Briody. “This means no remixes, everything will be recorded new from scratch. I realize that this has been done often (ICED EARTH, GAMMA RAY). However we are in the unique (and unfortunate) situation of not having the rights to any of this back catalog.” In other news, JAG PANZER will be making available a limited-edition DVD on their upcoming North American tour with ICED EARTH and IN FLAMES (which is scheduled to kick off in April) and from the group's official web site. The first run of the DVD will be a North American release only. Century Media Europe has the option for a European release.
